Scope
These terms cover this website and the hydrology applications hosted under streamflows.org, operated by Nick Steele as an individual. They are personal projects, provided as a courtesy to colleagues and collaborators.
Data accuracy — please read
Do not use these tools for life-safety, flood-warning, or emergency decisions.
Output here is derived from public data and experimental models, is provisional, and may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. For official information consult the originating agency directly — the USGS, your NOAA National Weather Service office or River Forecast Center, or the NRCS.
Machine-learning forecast products, including residual-corrected forecasts, are research outputs. They have not been operationally validated or certified for decision-making, and their published skill metrics reflect historical evaluation periods that may not represent future conditions.
Source data and attribution
Underlying observations and forecasts come from public agencies — USGS NWIS, NOAA River Forecast Centers and the National Weather Service, NRCS SNOTEL, NOAA SNODAS, and the Water Survey of Canada. That data remains subject to those agencies' own terms. Their inclusion here implies no endorsement by, or affiliation with, any of them.
Accounts and acceptable use
Accounts are issued individually and are not transferable; keep your credentials to yourself. You agree not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server, or its databases
- Probe or test for vulnerabilities except as described in /.well-known/security.txt
- Automate against the applications in a way that degrades them for others or that relays load onto upstream public agency APIs
- Redistribute derived products in a way that implies official or agency status
Availability
These are personal projects on a single server, with no service level and no uptime commitment. Applications may be changed, taken down, or have accounts withdrawn at any time and without notice.

Everything here is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of data. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from use of this site or reliance on its output.
Intellectual property
The application code, written text, and page designs are the work of the operator. Public agency data is not claimed as the operator's own. Short excerpts may be quoted with attribution.

These terms may be updated; the date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
